- Reviewed in the United States on June 3, 2024I use this on my PC at home, but bought a second one to use at the work office. The office uses a shared PC for front desk duties, the keyboard we had was an old messed up membrane keyboard where the buttons were hard to press, making workflow slower than it should be.
PROS:
- I love the metal construction of the deck. It feels premium
- Half height keycaps which lend to a sleek appearance of the keyboard. You can see the switches under the keycaps if you're looking at the keyboard from the side
- Price is phenomenal at 20 dollars. I think it used to be more expensive since it is an older model
- Decent typing sound, not too loud but not silent at all
CONS:
- Non swappable switches, which should be fine because mechanical switches are pretty durable, as I have never broken a single switch
- Only blue LEDs in the keyboard, which is fine with me. I turn off the lights completely at work
- Probably the only real con I discovered is a non removable cable
Overall, I suggest you buy this keyboard if you want a cool branded Hori keyboard, you are just getting into mechanical keyboards, or you are a keyboard collector. It is just a great keyboard, especially for the price.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 22, 2024It's a nice keyboard, feels solid, seems durable. I've had it for a week. Modern keyboards have more features and are a bit better, only buy this if you want something unusual. It has this scraping sound when you press the keys, they have some resistance like a thick membrane keyboard, which I think a lot of people wouldn't really want from a mechanical keyboard.
My main problem with it is that its backlight is already flickering a bit and when the brightness on it is high, I can hear this really high pitched whining sound.
Probably don't buy this, there are better options even for $20 bucks.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 26, 2016Awesome keyboard. Only negative thing I can say is sometimes it doesn't work when my computer doesn't wake up from sleep. I have to restart the computer then it works fine.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 5, 2016I'm a huge PC gamer and it seems like I go through keyboards like a fat kid goes through Twinkies. After many sub-par keyboards I decided to invest some money in a good keyboard and after a few weeks with this keyboard I'm loving it. I've always liked mechanical keyboards for the feel (and the sound) and this one feels just right. The keys have a satisfying pressure to them and I love the back-light. Some keys flicker slightly, however. I'm not sure if this is a power issue or something to do with my USB port, but it isn't terribly noticeable, It would be nice if you could change the color (this model only has blue) but oh well. I also like the fact that the keys are raised up from the base. This makes cleaning much, much easier. The base itself is very sturdy, feels well made and looks very slick, Overall this is an amazing keyboard. If you like mechanical keyboards and are a PC gamer this is a fantastic keyboard.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 14, 2016The Hori Edge is a decent keyboard, with full mechanical switches, backlight, and custom software for programming the keyboard. However, the switches are exceptionally stiff and mushy. There is none of the "clicky" feel that most mechanical keyboards have, each keystroke felt like I was pushing my finger into memory foam. I have had better typing experiences with cheap membrane keyboards. It may be that the switches that are in this board are simply not for me (I tend to prefer a very light switch), but the feel of the keys prompted the decision to return the board within a minute of starting to use it. I went back to my old Razer Tournament Stealth, which I much prefer with it's far lighter key weight.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 9, 2024I didn't want to pay an obnoxious amount for a keyboard. This was a great price, fast delivery and quality of the keyboard is great! Especially if you like the click of a keyboard. :)
- Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2020At the time, I paid $29.99 for this keyboard. Honestly, build quality wise, it may surpass that price point. You definitely shouldn't pay the MSRP of $150 for it, or even $100. Hori's in house switches may be high quality, but the actual feel of them isn't very suitable for typing with. They're not very sensitive, heavy and a bit mushy. There's no tactile feel to them either. Don't let the coloring of the switch fool you, they're not a clone of Cherry Blues by any measure. Funnily enough, they feel very much like buttons on a controller, which is great on a control pad or fight stick, but not very suitable for everyday typing.
What this lacks in typing feel though, style somewhat makes up for it at least. I picked this up because it resembles the Hori Fighting Edge 4 fightstick, so it's fun that it matches another piece of hardware for me. I also like the low profile keycaps/switches.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 10, 2015Awesome design and screams quality. I love how the keys are not embedded but rest above the chassis. It's brand new and clean now, but eventually it will be a breeze to clean and maintain when it gets dirty. The keycaps pop off easily but are also very firmly attached.
The keys themselves are a little stiffer than my last keyboard but I'm getting used to it. I can touch type easily and the keyboard is not loud and clicky like a lot of mechanical keyboards.
I'm not normally a huge fan of backlit keyboards but the blue lighting just looks cool. There are a few flashy lighting modes that are neat but I tend to just keep it on all the time and a medium brightness.
The metal body is very nice, unlike a lot of plastic keyboards, and it looks slim and clean on my desktop. Works and looks great!
