It's a MIRACLE!!! I can SEE!!! This monitor is a good solution for poor/failing eyesight. Of course, not a permanent one, but a good one, nonetheless. Bright monitor with a reasonably high resolution that makes reading without a magnifying glass possible (17 inch laptop just wasn't up to it) even in standard definition and contrast mode. I have put the accessibility options back in the box and am back to normal productivity: no more magnifying glass!
Lightweight and tilt make adjustability a snap. Height is easily and safely adjusted with a medium sized book under the stand. This monitor also has four attachment points on the back for using a swing arm mount should you choose to do so. Hook up to the ViewSonic site to download driver updates (if they're needed) and follow the prompts. Adjust your graphics card driver to the full resolution of the monitor. BAM! Done.
I'm now able to read text and numbers with relative ease. I can't tell if things are fuzzy or clear, but the color and contrast impressions I'm getting are better than I'm used to.
I think that for price/performance, you have to give this monitor five stars. Also for design and ease of use. The only weakness would have to be the speakers, but since I use external speakers their tinny-ness does nothing to detract, and they would be useful to an office user for the audible prompt they are capable of providing.
90 day edit: Nothing to add except that I has performed flawlessly while standing up to 10 hours per day use.that includes editing/typing, streaming video, and an occasional hour or two with Fallout Four or Laura Croft, etc. I still highly recommend.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 2, 2015I now have three of these monitors mounted to my desk using a Mount-It! Articulating Single Arm Computer Monitor Desk Mount for 27-Inch Monitors (MI-751) and a VIVO STAND-V002 Dual LCD Monitor Desk Mount Stand Heavy Duty Fully Adjustable Fits 2/Two Screens up to 27" (while the mounts are sold under different brand names, they are from the same manufacturer). I started with just one monitor to hook up to my laptop, then decided a second one would make life even better, and completed the set-up with a third monitor so I can have multiple documents open at the same time. The monitors are connected to my laptop using the Anker Dual Display Universal Docking Station with DVI/HDMI (up to 2048 x 1152), Audio, Gigabit Ethernet, 6 USB ports (2 USB 3.0 + 4 USB 2.0), 38W Adapter, Supports Surface Pro / 2 / 3 and more, which is brilliant. I went with three of the same monitor to more easily match display colors and brightness with each other. Two of the monitors have been in near constant use for over a year and a half, and the third monitor for 6 months, and all still work great and with no pixel or any other issues. If not for the build date printed on the back of the monitor, I couldn't tell which is the newest or oldest. I do a lot of work with text and spreadsheet documents as well as video and photo editing, and they provide a crisp, clear display. Streaming videos look great on these monitors. I have not calibrated them since I don't edit photos to that degree and I keep the brightness down anyway (as I have three of them facing me all day), but they were as easy to match color and brightness as I had hoped. I use a separate audio system at the desk so I can't comment on the speakers (I continued buying this version of the monitor with speakers only to guarantee screen color matching). I've been very pleased with these monitors.
UPDATE: I now have FOUR of these monitors in nearly constant use, all connected to my laptop via the Anker docking station (I actually also have a 42" LED TV I am using as a fifth monitor, through the same Anker docking station - the docking station is amazing!). It's hard to believe that it has been 4 years since I originally wrote this review, but I'm happy to say that all monitors are working today exactly as they did when they were new. The two oldest monitors are now about 5.5 years old, and since I use them for my business, they have seen at least 8 hours of use nearly every day. I don't know if all ViewSonic monitors are this reliable, but this particular model has been fantastic in my experience.
ANOTHER UPDATE: OK, I know ViewSonic doesn't make this model of monitor anymore, but I wanted to say that all four of these monitors that I have continue to work flawlessly. I still use them as much as I described earlier, and the oldest monitors are now over 7 years old.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 19, 2015This is a pretty good picture, nice and bright and clear. I got it for a temp monitor for a trip, a "burner".
For ports you get old school VGA or HDMI - no DVI nor Display Port / mini DP. VGA cable is included, but HDMI is NOT included; that's fine as long as you plan ahead. If you're using VGA, they include some type of cable to route the sound, though I didn't try it. If using HDMI, I can confirm that sound does come through the monitor (assuming your laptop supports that; I'm on an older Macbook Retina)
The speakers are absurdly tinny, think 1970's transistor radio, and it sounds like it's coming from some vague point way behind the monitor. Since I'm using it as a monitor I don't mind, but just be warned. For any movie watching, plan for other speakers or headphones; TV news would be passable.
The monitor's snap on base lets it pivot up and down, that's it. For left and right, you can move the base. And no portrait mode rotation on this budget model; I might suggest one of the Dell monitors if you want that. Although the mount and base are "plastic-y", in the short term that's actually not really bad; you can quick snap the base on and off Not sure there's any VESA mount options, I didn't really check.
The packaging looks decent; I'll be using the original box to send it back home. Monitors that get shipped around a lot may eventually break, so I tend to buy cheaper ones. This one doesn't look any worse than others in that respect.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sehr guter Monitor zu vernünftigem Preis

5.0 out of 5 stars Sehr gutes Preis/Leistungsverhältnis.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome monitor
I have used a ViewSonic VA2216w for about 6 years, loved it, still works it does flicker sometimes, so I updated to this.
Awesome monitor, nice and big, now I have to upgrade my graphics card so I can play in ultra settings.
Would by again.

fantastic monitor for the price. needed a bigger monitor and I've had a great experience with ViewSonic monitors in the past. Sharp colour, no dead pixels.
