This has to be the one of the best (if not THE best) looking monitor on the market. Hp really took a number from Apple's play book w/ this monitor & I for one am impressed. The color reproduction is phenomenal (considering it's 1080p on a 25" monitor) & I barely had to do any tweaking out of the box to get it to my preference. Furthermore, the menu is very easy to navigate -- many monitors fail in this dept. -- & I found myself breezing thru it in a matter of secs w/ out looking at the owners manual. I appreciate the 2 HDMI ports in the back for simultaneous input options. Lastly, if any Mac owners find their the HP 25xw's monitor image & text to be fuzzy out of the box, in the menu go to: "Image Control" --> "Overscan" & set it to "OFF." After that, the display was perfect. ** UPDATE (February 2016) ** Been using this monitor for 4 months now and still LOVE it. I leave it on 24/7 (it goes to standby mode when not in use) because I often connect my Macbook Air to it using a HDMI to mini display port cable whenever am at my desk. That way I don't have to turn it on manually every time. It wakes up effortlessly once connected to my Mac & goes to sleep once I disconnect it. Moreover, I have my PS4 connected to the second HDMI port and the games look awesome with no lag.

    This is a gorgeous monitor. I got a new Mac Mini and decided I had room on my desk for a large monitor to go with it. Wow is all I can say. The picture is beautiful, just amazing. I spent hours downloading HD wallpaper to enjoy and it all looks fantastic. It was easy to put together, no tools needed, and the base is sturdy and heavy duty. I bought this because of the size and the color, to go with my other new Mac accessories, and it looks great. I have the monitor sitting on a glass stand on my glass top desk and it stays steady while typing and using the desk. I had bought another, smaller monitor that I hooked up to my Mac, but I realized I had room for a larger one, the other one was black, and while it had a beautiful display I was unable to tone down the display (after much trying) so it didn't hurt my eyes. This monitor has a "haze" finish, not exactly matte, but it's bright and colorful and easy on my eyes right out of the box. Viewing is great from nearly any angle. For under $200 this monitor is an incredible value, I'm so glad I bought it.

    I've been searching for the perfect monitor(s) for my home office, and I finally found them! I bought these specifically because the screen is glossy and not matte, which apparently is very hard to find! I wanted to get as close to my Macbook screen as possible without dropping an obscene amount of money on a Thunderbolt display, and these have exceeded my expectations.

    I researched monitors for about 3 months before stumbling upon these. I had created spreadsheets with pro's and con's, read thousands of reviews, and almost drove myself (and my wife) insane. I found this monitor on Amazon, went to the local Best Buy to check them out, and went straight home to purchase that day.

    My issue with matte monitors is that the colors always look washed out or muted, even on some of the 2k ones that I've seen (haven't had much experience with 4k, though). I was on the verge of spending WAY too much money for 2k or 4k monitors, and I'm so glad that I didn't.

    - The glare on these is almost non-existent. I have them facing a window and a door out to my living room, and I've never once had an issue with glare.
    - The stands are quite sturdy, and very good looking
    - They have VESA mounts. You would think this is standard by now, but amazingly enough it's not.
    - Lightweight. I had them hooked up to some arm mounts so I could move them around freely. With other, heavier monitors, they just fell down to the lowest spot, which kind of defeated the purpose of being able to raise them.
    - The only problem I have with the stands is that there isn't much flexibility with them. I would love to make my screens portrait or be able to raise them up or down.
    - Super easy to hook up and adjust the colors to your preference
    - From what I've found, these monitors are as close to my Mac as I can get without dropping a ton of cash.

    10/10 - would buy again

    Immediate reaction: I bought this monitor because I needed a slightly larger screen to do photo editing, and to enable a visiting friend to work on some rather complicated land use planning. It set up very quickly and provided a bright and crisp display. I was delighted with it.

    After 6 months: I still love it for daily use. However, I have deducted one star because the base plate is now separating into 2 layers, so I'll have to see what can be done with Superglue. I don't think it's a disaster, but it's not something that should happen in normal domestic use in one constant location.

    I really like this monitor. It has nice color rendering. It's not as sharp (in color) as some others I have seen but also costs much less. My previous monitor was an HP 21 incher so I appreciate this 25 inch screen. It has 2 HDMI ports on the back as well as VGA. I use the VGA right now and am satisfied. The back and stand are white, but again, it doesn't distract me when viewing anything and I don't care what the color of the back is any way. If you are comparing monitors, go with what you can afford and get the best one. If you are on a budget then this monitor HP Pavillion 25xw 25-in IPS LED, is the one to get. I would say the screen is a semi gloss one. My previous monitor was definitely glossy (like a plasma tv screen used to be) and this one is not like that but gives great colors. The menu has many options in which you change the view of the screen including technicolor, HP enhance +, gaming, multimedia, text, and custom settings. I use it on custom. The only light visible is a white LED light at the lower right corner and I don't find as a distraction unless I remind myself it is there. I'm guessing you could turn it off but I haven't figured it out yet. I'm not sure the draw to IPS because my viewing angle is directly from the front and I'm the only one who uses my computer. I guess if you need IPS then that checks the box for you.

    I am so frustrated by this product. The monitor display is fine, but it flashes black multiple times every minute. For people who do a lot of work in front of a computer and would like to stay productive, do not buy this monitor. It adds yet another annoying distraction that makes it impossible to get work done. I've reset it a number of times and the issue persists. To be completely upfront, there is likely a solution that involves calling the HP service desk or bringing the monitor in to get fixed but who has time for this? I do not allocate 2 hours of my day to fixing something that I expect should work.
