    Was having a hard time deciding between monitors and was going to go with the U2417H model but in the end went with these. Very happy I did. At work I use the P series Dell monitors which are in between cost of the SE and Ultra series. These SE ones seem to have every bit the same sharp font, color as the P series ones I use. Not sure if they use the same IPS panels but its possible. These SE series lack some features but since I was able to get two for less than the cost of one "U" series 24" monitor I can deal with the missing features. I run dual displays using the HDMI and a DVI to HDMI cable which wasn't any more expensive than a regular HDMI cable.

    Pros: Excellent image, clear sharp text and colors. Excellent price ($99).
    Cons: Lack of features: USB hub, DVI and Display Port connectors, fixed height stand, non-VESA mount.

    It's 1.8" bigger than my existing Samsung 22" monitor TV. 1.8" makes things a lot better.
    it's well designed monitor with cheaper price tag. Probably it's cheaper because its hey-day is almost over : People look for bigger monitors nowadays. However, on a desktop I think this is right side. If bigger, it will give dizziness.

    One odd thing is that this monitor, 23.8" version, doesn't have any speaker or audio output jack.
    What's the point of HDMI then? HDMI is for delivering audio and video. DVI-I will be sufficient for this.
    Audio signal comes out from a computer will hit its dead-end.

    Also, it only comes with a VGA cable. Shouldn't it at least have DVI to HDMI cable because it has an HDMI port as well as VGA cable, or it should have DVI port with DVI cables.

    In the case of Samsung 22" monitor TV, it comes with many different cable, but DVI to HDMI calbe is included. The DVI to HDMI cable has audio pass-through. So, If you connect it to HDMI port on a computer side, although HDMI to DVI cable is used on a computer side and DVI to HDMI cable on the monitor side, audio is played on the included speakers on the monitor TV.

    Interesting 27" version of this Dell monitor which has different model number (SE2716H) has an audio output 35mm jack and dual speaker.
    Then having an HDMI port makes sense.

    Haven't owned long enough yet to see if the failures others have mentioned will happen, but I always buy Dell monitors and I average about 5-7 years out of them, most times handing them down to nieces and nephews and mother in laws... That seems to follow the technology timeframe trend of wanting/needing to upgrade to a larger screen or latest planned obsolescence plug configuration. I was a bit bummed that this one didn't have DVI and VGA as my last Dell's did-I run a pair of them on my desktop- but they do have an HDMI so I was able to make them both happen with a well needed clean up of the rats-nest wiring behind my workstation. Picture quality was noticeably nicer than my last ones as well. Great price, and still worthy of a very high recommendation

    I was originally considering an Acer screen with IPS, HD and other features as I was familiar with Acer. A friend turned me onto this Dell screen also with the same features. With a better price as it was on sale at the time! This Dell screen while I've only had it for a short period. Has worked better than expected. A good product and would buy again!

    I've had this monitor since May....I use it mainly to help editing my photography hobby, but am using it more for work related functions as well. It is an amazing monitor. I've always thought highly of their monitors as I have used them in some form or fashion for years and the last set I was using for my job I had a 2 monitor setup and they were both 6 and 7 years old, still going strong. Dell monitors will last you awhile - I have one in storage that the only thing wrong with it is that the power button finally went (atleast when it broke it was in the power on mode!) but I can still use it, just can't turn it off - it will still go into power save.

    one thing though to keep in mind, these monitors DO NOT come with a 3 year replacement warranty. Since this model does have a Dell service tag, you get 1 year - there are still monitors from Dell that come with that 3 year replacement warranty but those are ones that don't have a service tag, which is starting to become harder to get

    Purchased 10/27/15. Worked perfect for a while, screen looks great, amazingly easy to set up with my macbook pro (nonexistent setup, just plug it in). However a few months ago while watching a movie the monitor would turn off and back on during my movie, repetitively. It luckily happened toward the end of the movie so I just stuck through the remaining few minutes and it really didn't happen much while actively doing something (like typing or surfing the web) so I just forgot about it. Well it happened again during a very suspenseful movie I was just watching a few minutes ago and I became livid. I'm currently in the process of getting a replacement unit (15 month warranty) and will update as that process goes along. Just wanted to let you all know, if it was me buying a monitor all over again I'd be very cautious to buy this unit to say the least.

    UPDATE: Told you cannot use warranty on a dell monitor while not using a dell computer with a valid warranty. So even though I have valid warranty on the monitor since I'm using it on a mac dell wont even talk to me for free. As I type this the screen has shut off multiple times. Horrible monitor, would never recommend. Wish I never bought it.
