I do mostly video editing and a little gaming on my home computer. When I put my computer together, almost two years ago, I wasn't able to purchase an updated card. When I saw the release of the new 10 series Nvidia line come out, I new the wait was in my favor. Not being a hard core gamer, I wasn't willing to spend $400+ on a GTX 1070 or 1080. I was confident a 1060 would suit my needs, the question was "which one"? I almost bought one of the OC versions of the EVGA line, but they just lacked the WOW factor for me. When I made my decision, I chose this card. Some people have complained about the price, but matching up ROG components (I have a Asus ROG Crosshair V Formula Z motherboard) and the added Aura lighting feature made the extra money worth it for me. This card is BIG, almost 12" long and takes up two slots, measure your case before buying.
This card looks great and performs like a champ. I run an older RC flight sim called Real Flight. In the past, I was able to squeeze 40-50 FPS in the more graphic intense areas. I am now seeing 300-350 FPS, silky smooth and all settings at max. Portal 2 is running at 60 FPS at max settings. That doesn't sound that impresive, but many people have complained about low frame rates with this particular game. At 60 FPS, the visual experience and responsivness of the controls are amazing. If you're looking for a good mid-ranged card and don't want to spend $400-$600 to get a 1070 or 1080, this card is a winner. It looks great in my case too. Good Luck!
