Pros -price -easy to use -software comes with video editor/producer -option to set a record duration -multiple video formats available Cons -does not support 720HD (that I've found) -VHS recording will turn black if there is static/noise on the tape. -software occasionally buggy Overall this little device does a good job for analog SD video.
I have experience in video capture products, and was looking for something compatible with my Windows 10 computer.
Although the driver and software installed successfully, the converter simply does not work. All it would generate is a black video and an audio hum. (The wiring I used is successful with other products.)
The hardware worked fine. For some reason I could not view the capture when burned on a dvd. I downloaded another converter, imported the Arcsoft videos that I saved in mpeg format, coverted them and burned perfectly acceptable dvd's. It took a while with the added step but much worth it since I was able to edit content from 5 tapes and save on 1 dvd. For the price excellent purchase.
This item comes with software that when installed on your computer attempts to communicate with other computers in Russia, Ukraine, and other ex-Soviet countries. This is totally unacceptable and puts your PC at a high risk.
I have a very fast PC with a lot of RAM and a pro-sumer VCR. I also used to run a post-production facility in Hollywood, so I know my way around editing equipment. Video transfer was laggy with a lot of dropped frames and audio sync errors. Tried it with several computers and editing programs (including the unimpressive software bundled with the item). Nothing worked.
