Monitor version: BenQ EX3501R 35" HDR Gaming Curved Monitor, UWQHD, 100Hz, FreeSync, 4ms, Port HDMI USB-C I got this monitor for 600$ during Cyber Monday deals and it is definitely worth every penny. Cons: 1) No internal speaker but anyways not big of an issue since monitors never have good sound quality 2) No G-sync, it does have free sync for AMD users 3) Not true HDR but given the cost I don't really see an issue as true HDR monitors cost over 2k Now for the good part this monitor's direct competitor is predator x34 which is at least 300$ more money without significant improvements and have 1 inch less screen. *1 inch extra screen makes a lot of difference experience wise. *100 Hz out of box is good since no additional configuration is required. *I tested my monitor for dead pixels and did not find any (given the reviews) so high five to Amazon and BenQ. Also if you purchase it through Amazon then it auto registers for warranty from BenQ. *BenQ implementation of HDR using software is pretty good. Absolutely go for this monitor if you find it under 700$. Make sure to buy from a trusted seller otherwise you may find dead pixels.

I've had this monitor for about a month and a half. I wanted to come back and review this monitor because I wanted people to know my experience so far.

Most importantly, this monitor has a beautiful picture and it is very easy on the eyes when using for long hours. My biggest concern about this monitor is it is a VA panel and not an IPS panel like the majority of monitors out there. VA panels have some trade-offs both positive and negative. One of the positives is it has great contrast ratio, and this monitor definitely has awesome contrast. The scary negative is that VA panels can have ghosting issues. This monitor has some ghosting when running at 60Hz. That said, if you buy this monitor I highly recommend you run it at 100Hz. It's a 100Hz panel so you should be running it at 100Hz anyway. As a regular user looking for ghosting, it appears to have virtually no ghosting at 100Hz.

As a gamer, I turn VSYNC off in games and use the RivaTuner app (suggested by a friend) to cap output frame rate to 96Hz. Then I use nVidia's new drivers that support Freesync for GTX 1080 and up, and have had great success with this. All of the games I like to play work without issue. Of course if you don't want to mess with Freesync, just leave your games frame rate uncapped and let 'er rip.

I paid full price for this monitor (around $750 USD at the time) and have no regrets. I give this monitor high marks all around. It's a beauty.

I'm not a gamer so I can't attest to it's gaming performance, but for office applications like having multiple spread sheets or word documents open side by side I love it. Truly, there's a lot of acreage on this screen. I also use it for music and video editing where the extra wide screen lets me see more scrubber area on timelines. The brightness is very good and colors are decently accurate for photo editing too. My eyes not being what they once were, I have the desktop resolution of my Radeon RX5600 XT set to 3440x1440 at 100Hz with 175% zoom. This allows me to sit with my eyes almost 3 feet from the screen and at this distance the 1800r curve seems natural and is perfect!
I also have a small NUC PC connected to the monitor that I use with the monitors built in PBP (picture by picture) feature, very handy.
I have run color and dead pixel tests recently, great color results and no dead pixels after 11 months.
Overall, for the $560 I paid, I still very pleased.

I'll start by saying I knew exactly what I was buying when I purchased this monitor on thanksgiving day 2019. I wanted a monitor that had phenomenal colors, improved my productivity, and had decent gaming specs. IPS monitors are all the rage but I just can't deal with "IPS Glow".

This monitor doesn't disappoint. I used my color calibration puck (Spyder 4 pro) and this monitor looks even better after calibration. at 100% sRGB, the colors are great and the deep contrast ratio helps this monitor look even better.

I have a 1080ti graphics card so I needed to make a custom resolution with a refresh rate of "98" to get rid of screen flicker. As long as you do this, enable gsync, and your game runs over 40fps you will not have screen flicker. However running Assassins creed Odyssey at ultra settings made the fps dip below 40 which resulted in screen flicker....Adjusting the graphics settings slightly improved performance which in turn eliminated screen flicker.

My second monitor is a Dell S2716DGR which is 1440p at 144hz TN panel. Playing the latest call of duty game on the BenQ, I can instantly tell a difference between these monitors for fast paced games. The BenQ feels slow and a bit blurry. Even with AMA on premium, there is ever so slight ghosting.. I only notice this in Call of Duty, so I will continue to play that on my Dell monitor. other single player games such as Odyssey are quite fantastic on this display.

HDR on the BenQ is nice even if it's not "True" HDR. It makes games look a bit more realistic and youtube HDR video's especially look amazing. I have yet to test a 4k HDR bluray.

I seem to have received a very good VA panel with no noticeable defects of any kind. I can somewhat see the dark side edges people are talking about, but I can't tell if I'm actually seeing it, or if I'm imagining it. Either way, it's not an issue for me.

In conclusion, if you are a competitive FPS gamer....This isn't the monitor for you...Sorry.. Everyone else will be extremely satisfied.

Very good monitor. Quite impressed with quality of the product. Shipping was fast. Packaging was extremely well done. Was easy to unpack and set up. I really found the presence of connections on this monitor impressive. It has a USB-C built in that I can use to plug in my work HP notebook as well as my MacBook and they both project to this monitor perfectly at full 4K resolution. Also the USB-A port in-built let’s me connect the wireless keyboard and mouse to this monitor that I can use with both HP and MacBook. Very impressed with this setup that was easy and honestly eliminated the need for me to buy a docking station. Moreover, tried with PS4 console and the HDR quality is quite good. Need to wait for PS5 to try it out in 4K but I am sure it will be impressive.

      My summary:
      - very good price for a 4K HDR monitor
      - impressive connectivity with USB-C and A, HDMI and Display Port available. Also ships with cables so you don’t have to buy extra
      - lightweight and easy to set up
      - very good size of the screen
      - curved design is really pleasing to the eye. Much better to work with compared to flat screen
      - 3 year warranty included by default.

      Do I recommend?
Absolutely, for both gaming and using as office PC/Mac monitor.

Switched from dells2418dg to this monitor. At 799 cad price point, this monitor is a must buy if you are not aiming for competitive gaming. Great image quality, nice auto-brightness function, and 100hz is good enough for gaming.
Gsync compatible works on this monitor on 100hz with a dp-dp cable 1.4. Tried some games and gsync works as it should be. I checked the gync range my self, it is around 40hz-100hz, which is not bad.
for my monitor, with g sync compatible off, there is frame skipping for 6 frames. So if i don't use gsync competible or freesync, I need to set a customize frame rate of 94hz. Then there is no more frame skipping.
The auto brightness sensor is great for working all night long, it will auto adjust the screen brightness means that you will have less eye strain.
The image is great, with no ghosting and great color accuracy.
Even though there is HDR, it is 'fake' hdr, it will enhance the picture color but loss some contrast of the picture.
Overall a great monitor, great for daily work and some non-competitive games.

      5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent 35" 1440p monitor

This is a great ultrawide monitor that delivers 1440p. The performance of the monitor is excellent, gaming or productivity - it'll suit both. I upgraded from a 1080p 144hz monitor and I'm glad I did even if this panel is only 100hz - the difference isn't major.

Does require some calibration to get the colours to pop but once you set it up as you like it, you'll have a very good experience with this monitor. Definitely recommend at the CA $699.00 price which is what I paid. For CA $899 you can likely get a newer monitor that offers more features (perhaps better HDR) and brightness levels.
