- Reviewed in the United States on March 9, 2014I cannot tell you how many headphones I looked at before finally deciding on these. I was looking for a few key components in on ear models and these nailed it. First, I was looking for sound quality, particularly a lot of bass, but not so much that it smothered the mids and highs. I'm a very active listener in the beautiful sounds that dubstep, trap, and electronic have to offer, but that's not all. I love me some jazz and bluegrass, and too much bass with those genres ruins the whole thing. Good highs and mids make jazz and bluegrass sound good. Sol Republic did not disappoint with the highs. Crisp and clear, and yet, not screechy. In my opinion, the highs are perfect. If you have looked at other reviews before mine, you know that these headphones pack a boatload of bass, enough to physically rattle your ears at high volumes. The only slight trouble is the mids. Sometimes the vocals or heavy distortion instruments like guitar chords get drowned or blurred together. Rock sounds kind of weird on these headphones, I won't lie. It's not annoying to listen to, just a little odd, so if you're a big rock fan, perhaps look elsewhere. The second thing I looked for is style. I turned down a lot of headphones because they were real funky lookin'. Man, I get a lot of positive stuff from my friends and even people I don't know very well. These headphones look really sweet on your head or around your neck or whatever. Style-wise, you can't go wrong. The last thing I looked for is all around functionality/practicality, like comfort and durability. As far as comfort is concerned, these hurt my ears after about 2 hours, and I have to give them a break. Deal-breaker? I don't know, it doesn't bother me too much, but maybe some are more particular than others. Durability-wise, the headband is indestructible and that is the truth of it. I have bent these so that the ear cups are reverse and face outward. Freaky stuff. The wire is thin after the split where it becomes two wires, I fear that one day they'll get ripped out or something, but for now they're holding stronger than I thought they might. I think these are the best sub-$100 on ear headphones you will find. That's just my honest opinion.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 17, 2013If you enjoy music, and when I say enjoy, I don't mean casual listener, I mean someone who has to have music around them at all times, you will love these. I have heard allot of top brand cans and I can say, none of them meet up to the hype, without naming names, cough..eats audio.. pho's, among others, and price per performance is not there. These on the other hand, live up to their price point. I'm not saying they are the best out there, but for what you pay, you get a great sounding pair of headphones. I use an android powered smartphone and I have never heard a pair of headphones sound good in them, this set changed that. Without making this article to long, I'm just going to run down the pros and cons as I see them after using these for a few months now.
Pros:
Not expensive
everything is modular, it all comes apart, band, drivers, wires
Very good frequency range, bass can get loud, trebles can get high
Volume only makes them sound better, they do not clip very easily
Stylish design, since it call comes apart everything can be swapped for different colors, check out their website for more on that.
Sound is more like listening to speakers in a room, versus having something jammed against your ears, they have great depth of field.
Cons:
Can get uncomfortable after long use, the cans don't swivel horizontally
They do not fold up, while they can be taken apart, the band is still huge
The wires that plug into the drivers can come unplugged, and I imagine over time if unplugged enough could cause connection issues with the jack, (potentially)
The inline remote only works 100% with iphone, android phones may get one or two of the buttons to work, but not all three, compatibility issues.
The cord could be considered to short by some.
* With the above pros and cons, you make your choice, however I have to say that if the Tracks HD, and Tracks Ultra sound any better than these, I may have to get more sets....
- Reviewed in the United States on January 8, 2014I purchased the SOL Tracks after seeing Michael Phelps rock them in the 2012 Olympics. Money well spent. They really get the job done. I wear them at work, cutting the grass, at the gym, working/playing on my computer, and even watching tv. They do it all. I do not find them to be remotely uncomfortable even after extended use (say two and a half hours). They hold up very well and I am confident because when a component does finally give in, I can buy replacements. No need to scrap the whole thing. Looking to upgrade to Tracks HD's? All you need is the new drivers, not all new headphones. I like what this company stands for and that they seem to want people to be happy. They are not just in it for the money.
All that being said, I do notice sometimes that my roommates studio Beats have better bass and noise canceling. They do require batteries however and are almost double the price so it is certainly not worth it for me.
All in all I love these headphones and could not be happier with them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Killer bass!
As I am a dj, I would suggest Sol republic should also provide a y-cable without mic and buttons for dj's as the one with the box works only for phones/music players.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Value. Works Well
This is my first on ear headphones. I didn't want to spend more than $100 for a headphone, so I bought this one while it's on sale. Where can you get a quality headphone for $80 something including shipping & tax?! I thought it was a pretty good deal. I listen to pop music mostly and knows basically nothing about headphones. I have been using it for walks at the park. Noise cancellation is not a feature of this headphone, but it blocks out enough noises anyway, in a not too noisy environment. I agree with others that the bass is really strong. I had to play around with the music settings on iphone to boost the vocals a bit. It worked out fine. So far I am happy with my purchase. Only issue is that my ears get very warm after wearing it for an hour or so. I don't know if that's because I was walking, or if it's an issue with on ear headphones in general...

5.0 out of 5 stars Geiler Bass:-)

4.0 out of 5 stars Sehr guter Kopfhörer
+ Guter Klang + starker Bass + Austauschbare Kabel
