WOW! That was the first word out of my audiophile mouth on my audiophile head. This little $12 device delivers in spades! I have so many DACs and AMPs of varying grade and prices. I figure like many people, for $12 its a no brainer, if it works. Well let me tell you...It sounds freakin' A M A Z I N G ! I was shocked at the natural tonality overall. The lack of sibilance in the highs, the slightly recessed lids are very present, and that bass. Not overdone but there with sub bass and very complimentary. I am floored. Then, I became enamored by the degree of separation. The articulation is fantastic too. To top it all off, it sounds all so natural! Natural is one of my favorite qualities of any Audio Video equipment. Some devices sound too sterile. Some over exaggerated. The CLIPTHAT must have some kind of magic power in its little, little 4 inch dongle. It easily takes any open USB-C port and transforms it in to a true High Def 3.5mm jack. Forget about that lost headphone jack on the latest and greatest smartphones, Apple and Samsung. I picked up the Samsung S20+ 5G a few days ago. I have plenty of mobile USB-C DACs and AMPs but I wanted something very easy and basic to just bring with me instead of bluetooth. I loved the specs I read on this device and gave it a go. 2 days later Amazon faithfully delivered my little guy. Right now, as I am writing this review the CLIPTHAT is plugged in to my $2K MacBook Pro that already has a headphone jack. I was using it it with my S20+, was blown away, and switched over to the MBP for a meeting. The lack of background noise floored me. Then. I opened Tidal and gave some real Master HD music from a new album by The Screaming Trees. Granted I am using $800 Audioquest Carbon Headphones, but the clarity! Its on a whole other level. Please really needed to make this as a 2 thumbs up recommendation... In this hobby, passion or whatever you choose to call it, you CAN get more for what you've paid for. Nowhere else have I've been able to achieve this. In the higher end audio world I have accomplished this. I first purchased a $25 pair of over ear headphones from Monoprice last year of which I could not believe my ears. Now this little device from CLIPTHAT and am in awe all over again!. I do not feel isolated and cut off from the world in my Semi-Open Audioquests. I feel like I am literally a part of this world. All this accomplished with a $2k device and a $12 device? How is this possible? My amazing and true to life "quality" 2019 MBP listening to Master and MQA tracks from my Tidal subscription. I gotta tell ya folks, it doesn't get much better than this! If you are even just thinking of which device to buy in this mobile dongle world, don't wait. Spend that $12 and join me. And yes, you can thank me later!
