the build quality is good, it doesn't feel cheap and it functions great ...
I've been using this monitor arm for about a month now. the build quality is good, it doesn't feel cheap and it functions great too. The adjustable gas spring works well, as do both of the mounting options (the C clamp and the screw). Long story short, it holds up the monitor just like its supposed to. I give this product 3 stars, however, because the cable management (in my experience) does not work as advertised. On the second section of the arm, there is a detachable plastic cover (held on with little plastic clips) that allows you to tuck your cables in to the arm itself, and then cover them back up with the plastic cover. This is great in theory, but the channel in the arm is far too small to actually hold any cables. I only have 2 cables running through it (an hdmi cable and a power cable), and those two cables alone don't fit inside. I also used the slimmest power cable that I had. As soon as the monitor is moved, the cables inside will move too and break the plastic cover off, and the cables will sag out of the arm. I tried to fix this by adding a velcro tie around the arm, but that slips off and the panel will still open (see pictures). So if you plan on setting up a monitor that might have more than 1 device connected to it as well as maybe an audio in and a power cable, even though this supposedly has built in cable management, there is no way you use it to secure them all. In my case, I can't even get it to secure the bare minimum of a single video cable and a power cable.

3/22/2022: Loved it when I bought it and still love it today. It has served me well with zero issues and will continue to do the same with my new monitor which is arriving day. Never wobbly, always strong and secure, it is the perfect match after moving from a 24" to a new 27" monitor.

2014: I own and still use a competitor - Neo-Flex LCD Arm - and had been relatively happy with it. Relatively. I needed another mount and tried this Vivo model. Uh... Wow! What a difference. Easier to use overall and I really love how easily it moves, but only when I want it to. Much much more flexible than the other mount, too. As soon as I tried this mount I knew I was moving the Neo-Flex to my other, less-used computer. A lot of extra work to do that, but worth it! Immediate return on labor investment.

Fantastic mount, great flexibility and movement. Having it in black is just icing on the cake. Love it!

In moving away from a dual monitor arm mount system, I decided to look at a couple of different single arm mounts. This one and the Mount-It! Monitor Desk Mount. This one comes in a bit cheaper than the Mount-It! version and upon opening it up, you can see why. Where the Mount-It! arm feels very premium and sturdy, this one feels a bit more flimsy and features a lot of plastic where the Mount-It! arm has a lot of metal to it.

Installation of the monitor to this mount was simple enough and the arm definitely does the job it needs to do, so plastic exterior aside, it certainly works very well. It can hold up to 27" monitors with a weight capacity of just under 10lbs, which is more than ample for most monitors out there. There is some monitor shake when I type, so that is worth noting, although it could just be because my desk lacks a lot of front support and shakes more than it should.

Overall, for the price you're paying, this is a very solid mount that will get the job done. While not as premium-feeling as the Mount-It! version, it ultimately isn't that important, particularly if you're on a budget.

I ordered this monitor stand on my husband's account. I work from home and need all the desk space I can get. I bought a new monitor and unfortunately the monitor stand that came with it wasn't the height I was used to. Anything I put under it would take up even more space (the monitor stand was round and took up a lot of real estate) and defeat the purpose. I started looking for a better way and found several monitor arms/stand and settled on the Vivo because of the reviews AND the fact that when people had problems with the product, the seller would respond to try to resolve the problem. Another product with the same amount of stars did not have that same support, so it was a no-brainer from there.

When the package came I opened it and got it put together very quickly. Someone mentioned that the gas arms can slap you in the face coming out of the package so I was wary of that. I attached the stand to my desk and it was very sturdy. The arm is so flexible I was able to lay my monitor down in front of it and bend the arm to where it was hovering flush with the back of the monitor. This allowed me to put the screws (they include two kinds) into the back of the monitor easily. When I pulled the monitor up to look at it and check out the height, etc, the arm would not hold position...I remembered that there is a way to adjust it so the arm would hold the monitor up. It took a little strong arm action to turn the allen key and get the arm to "pull" the monitor up and stay still. I thought i was going to break something because no one mentions how hard it is to turn. I'm glad it's difficult, because if they didn't have it so tight, the arm may have slapped me in the face for real.

There is a warning tag on the monitor that says put the arm up high when you take the monitor off the arm because it can hit you in the jaw. I left my warning on there just in case someone else takes my monitor off they don't get a surprise.
I would recommend this product to anyone, anytime. It has solved a few problems for me (vision, desk space, flexibility). Get one and be happy.

Considering how quickly prices can climb for a VESA mount for a desk, this mount is a pretty great deal. I have a samsung all-in-one touchscreen mounted on this, and it makes it so awesome to use. So good, I feel like this mount almost should have come with the computer.

    Pros:
    >All promised axis of articulations are present.
    >Two side to side joints, one up and down, and one to rotate (spin) the screen.
    >The hydraulics for the up and down motion can be adjusted to the weight of your screen (note: the bolt to change from heavier to lighter hydraulic resistance is rightly-loosey lefty-tighty, not the conventional.)
    >Lots of mounting options (bolt through top of desk, screw to side of desk, and a non-marring vice-screw type (the one showing in the product image)
    >Cable management for a clean appearance.

    Cons:
    >The rotational axis doesn't have any detents or stops in it, so its hard to get it perfectly level or perfectly vertical without bunch of micro-adjustments. If you never rotate your screen this should be pretty much a non-issue for you.
    >After moving the screen with the mount there is a bit of a 'diving board effect" where the screen will bounce up and down (because of being at the end of such a long arm) before eventually settling. This is the main reason to buy a more expensive mount if you want to, but it doesn't bother me enough to warrant paying $200.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful improvement to my desk, excellent value for my two 27" monitors!
Reviewed in Canada on February 20, 2017
Edit: bought a third. I love these stands.

Got two of these, and I'm very happy with both of them! Was pretty straight forward to get them set up and my monitors mounted to my desk, and VERY happy with the result! The amount of desk space I gained lifted up my two 27" monitors is beyond description. The cable management channels in the arms are a little fiddly, but very useful.

They do take some subtle adjusting to get the monitor to sit exactly how you'd like it to, but I'm patient, and CANNOT argue with the price I paid for them at 60$.

NOTE: one of my monitors is the QNIX 2710 LED Evolution II, and the screw holes for the VESA mount are VERY shallow; so shallow, the included screws didn't hold the bracket securely. I used washers to resolve the issue for me, so be wary of that for yourself. (also, you have to debezel the monitor to remove the neck of the stand, and frankly I couldn't be bothered. Still looks great imo)

Attached are a before and an after pic so you can see the difference for yourself :)

This has worked out great for us. The listing says up to 24" monitors however the box said up to 27" monitors supported. The instructions were clear and it was easy to set up. I left off one star because it did take some time to adjust the tension and swing adjustments so that the monitor would stay put. Out of the box the monitor would sink to the desk and slowly rotate on it's own. However after tightening up the tension adjustments it seems to be working well.

    Update:
This was good for a couple of years, but in my case didn’t last. The arm no longer stays in place. Specifically, it will not stay folded, expanding out to about 45-60 degrees within 5-10 seconds.

    Original review:

A bit more expensive than some of the other arm/desk mounts, but works extremely well. Gas spring does definitely help.

I've had a 34" ultrawide monitor hanging on this thing for 6 months, which is larger than the maximum stated (but lighter than the maximum weight) and this thing has had no issue holding it up. There is zero sagging, zero unwanted movements.

If you want this to be as flush against the wall as possible, do not put the clamp in the middle of where your monitor would go and then fold the arm in half behind the monitor. Rather, put the clamp to the side and have the arm fully extended behind one side of the monitor. This works perfectly because I'm using this with an ultrawide monitor, so for regular wide monitors it might not look as nice this way.
