I've had experience with flawlessly (without any trapped bubbles) installing screen protector films on several smartphones I've owned. I meticulously cleaned and made sure there was no dust on the screen before installation, but even after installing the second protector (I was considerably less meticulous with installation of the first of the two protectors), I still manage to have a few 1 - 2 mm size bubbles under the film. The bubbles that are there have hardly any negative effect on viewing the screen in regular use.
